Says its for Network Buffering, but I changed it anyway. First one being to change the buffer size for video playback from 5 to 15 seconds. Two things I've tried seems to have fixed it. It was choppy and had all kinds of problems keeping in sync, and it didn't matter what I did to the video card settings. Not sure if this will help anyone but I was having the same problem with video playback in WMP12 for Windows 7 圆4. I know I can use a different video player like VLC, but we have an application embedded in Excel that uses WMP to perform analysis on the videos so I need WMP to work properly. Any advice or enlightenment on this would be much appreciated. I have a very specific need to play these video files smoothly at speeds above 2x for research/analytical purposes. It's clear to me that this issue lies with WMP12 and is not hardware related. The laptop is a quad core with 8GB ram and a 1GB video card - and given that WMP11 does a decent job Not quite as good but more importantly it's playing smoothly at high speeds.Ĭan someone tell me if there were changes made in version 12 to the way the player handles play speeds above 2x? I have fully updated video drivers, etc. I just downloaded WMP 11 and installed it under XP mode, and it will play the same video file smoothly all the way up to 16x, not skipping or dropping frames. The video files play fine at normal speed and at 2x speed,īut if I increase anywhere higher than 2x it gets extremely choppy. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a new laptop. I'm experiencing very choppy video that appears to be skipping or dropping frames when playing MPEG4 video files in WMP 12 at speeds above 2x.
